The opportunity

We're looking for our first dedicated Finance hire to build the financial foundations Balance needs for its next stage of growth.

This is not a traditional accounting or controlling role. You'll make sure our financial operations are rock solid, but your main job will be to turn Finance into a tool for better decisions: helping us understand the business, allocate capital effectively, plan ahead and grow sustainably.

You'll work directly with the founders and leadership team, combining hands-on financial ownership with FP&A, business partnering and strategic thinking. Huge ownership from day one, with the opportunity to shape the Finance function from the ground up.

What you'll do

• Own Finance end to end - Take responsibility for our financial operations, from accounting and month-end close to reporting, planning and cash management.
• Build financial visibility - Create the dashboards and reporting we need to understand revenue, margins, OPEX, cash flow, working capital, inventory and performance vs. plan.
• Own planning & forecasting - Build and continuously improve our financial model, budgets and forecasts, and translate company ambitions into a clear financial plan.
• Improve cash & capital efficiency - Proactively find ways to strengthen cash flow and working capital, from supplier terms and inventory financing to cost optimisation and financing opportunities.
• Build the foundations - Improve processes, controls and systems so management can trust the numbers at any point in time as the company scales.

Who you are

• You have around 2-6 years of experience across FP&A, controlling, transaction services, audit, consulting or an operational Finance role.
• Strong accounting and financial fundamentals, with a clear understanding of how the P&L, balance sheet and cash flow connect.
• Highly analytical and comfortable building financial models, budgets, forecasts and scenarios.
• Comfortable getting into the details while keeping a strong understanding of the broader business.
• Able to turn imperfect or fragmented information into clear reporting and actionable insights.
• You take ownership, move proactively and naturally look for problems and opportunities rather than waiting for them to be assigned.
